Indian Bangle Size Guide: How to Measure Your Bangle Size (2.4, 2.6, 2.8 Chart)

Indian Bangle Size Guide: How to Measure Your Bangle Size (2.4, 2.6, 2.8 Chart)

Buying bangles online is easy — as long as you get the size right. Indian bangles use a standard sizing system (2.4, 2.6, 2.8, and so on), and once you understand it, ordering the correct fit takes about a minute. This guide explains what the numbers mean, gives you a full size chart, and shows you two simple ways to measure at home.

What do Indian bangle sizes mean?

Indian bangle sizes describe the inner diameter of the bangle — the width of the opening your hand passes through. The number after the decimal is a measurement in sixteenths of an inch, so a size 2.6 means roughly 2 and 6/16 inches across. The larger the number, the larger the bangle.

Most adult women wear a 2.6 or 2.8. If you're unsure, 2.6 is the most common size and a safe starting point.

Indian bangle size chart

Bangle Size Inner Diameter (inches) Inner Diameter (cm) Typical Fit
2.4 2.25" 5.7 cm Small
2.6 2.375" 6.0 cm Medium (most common)
2.8 2.5" 6.35 cm Large
2.10 2.625" 6.7 cm Extra Large

Smaller (2.2 / ~5.4 cm) and larger (2.12 / ~7.0 cm) sizes exist for petite and broader hands. Kids' bangles run smaller — usually 1.8 to 2.2.

How to measure your bangle size at home

Method 1 — If you already own a bangle that fits: Lay the bangle flat and measure straight across the inside edge (the inner diameter) with a ruler. Match that measurement to the chart above.

Method 2 — If you don't have a bangle to measure:

  1. Tuck your thumb toward your palm, as if you were slipping a bangle on.
  2. Wrap a strip of paper or a measuring tape around the widest part of your hand (across the knuckles, with the thumb tucked).
  3. Measure that length in inches — this is your hand circumference.
  4. Divide it by 3.14 to get the diameter, and match it to the chart.

Which size should I order if I'm between sizes?

If your measurement falls between two sizes, size up — a slightly loose bangle is comfortable, while a tight one won't go on at all. This is especially true for heavy or broad bangles and kadas, which have less flex, so give yourself a little extra room.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most common Indian bangle size? Size 2.6 (about 6.0 cm inner diameter) fits most adult women and is the safest choice if you're unsure.

How do I measure my bangle size without a bangle? Wrap paper or tape around the widest part of your hand with your thumb tucked in, measure the length in inches, and divide by 3.14 to get the diameter. Match it to our size chart.

Should I size up or down if I'm between sizes? Size up. A bangle that's slightly loose is wearable; one that's too small won't fit over your hand.

Do kids' bangles use the same sizes? No — children's bangles run smaller, typically 1.8 to 2.2. Choose based on the child's hand measurement using the same method above.
